Performance
You can rely on the 4Runner for rugged performance. It has features designed for being off the beaten path, including those in the TRD Off-Road lineup, offering Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control to give you multiple driving modes and a rear-locking differential. In terms of its power comes from a 270-horsepower V6 engine, and it's available as a rear-wheel drive vehicle or four-wheel drive, the latter of which has a full-time or part-time setup, depending on the model you choose.
Interior and Versatility
With seating for five, the 4Runner can get passengers onboard, but many choose it for its large rear storage area. It can load in lots of cargo and gear and is a particularly dog-friendly SUV, as that's plenty of room for a dog crate for travel or for your dog to be on trips. The roll-down rear window is also a hit with drivers because you can easily access something without opening the liftgate, and for dogs, it can let them get some fresh air while being inside and secure in the cabin. There's also a sliding rear cargo deck that can be pulled out to provide easier storage, and be used as a workbench or table, making the 4Runner a quality camping and tailgating vehicle. This cargo deck can hold up to 440 pounds and it has outlets in the cargo area, so you can use tools and a whole host of other electronics.
